For Salisbury Steaks

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

For Mushroom Sauce

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare Salisbury Steaks:
    • Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
    • Shape mixture into four oval patties.
    • Heat olive oil in a pan and cook patties for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  • Make Mushroom Sauce:
    • In the same pan, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden.
    • Sprinkle flour and stir to blend.
    • Gradually add beef broth, stirring constantly, and add Worcestershire sauce.
    • Simmer for 5 minutes to thicken. Return patties to the sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Prepare Garlic Mashed Potatoes:
    • Boil potatoes and garlic in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes).
    • Drain, then mash with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Assemble and Serve:
    • Serve Salisbury Steaks topped with mushroom sauce alongside the garlic mashed potatoes.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and flour.
  • Ground turkey or chicken can be substituted for beef for a lighter version.
  • Adjust salt and pepper to taste, especially in the mushroom sauce.
